Here is an easy way to install ownCloud on Debian 7 with a script, but first, for those who don’t know what ownCloud is:<\/p>\n

ownCloud is a free and open-source web application for data synchronization, file sharing, and cloud storage. ownCloud is written in the PHP and JavaScript scripting languages. For change management, it employs SabreDAV, an open-source WebDAV server. …http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Owncloud<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

See it as your “own” private Dropbox, but much more secure as you’d be hosting it yourself.<\/p>\n

Alright, let’s get down to it:<\/p>\n

Make sure you’re running Debian 7<\/p>\n

Keep in mind that this is a new installation so it will remove any existing MySQL, Nginx and Apache installation including any configuration you may have for these services.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Log into your Linux server\/VPS via ssh and run the following command in one single line:<\/p>\n

wget http:\/\/etapien.com\/scripts\/owncloud\/owncloud.sh && chmod +x owncloud.sh && sh owncloud.sh<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This script will download the script, make it executable and execute it.<\/p>\n

There are a few instructions to follow on screen and you should be set, you now have a working installation of ownCloud.<\/p>\n

Where to install this? Well, you can easily use a low ram VPS, I recommend Owned-Networks VPS plans for this, check them out at<\/strong> www.owned-networks.net<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n
